The restless heron

The Restless Heron or Su Di Makapangintelen a Talik (Maguindanaon) is set in the late 1800s and early 1900s during the early years of American Occupation in the Philippines specifically retelling the history of the Sultanate of Talik. Smaller sultanates including Talik has separated from the Sultanate of Buayan due to power struggle and established an independent polity.

The Sultan sa Talik (Rolando T. Inocencio), son of Sultan Ngelen (Hassanain Magarang) inherited the throne from his father and maintains peace in his territory. However, his relative Datu Ali (Jun Nayra), the lead defiant againsts American policies who is also the Rajah Muda of Buayan, has entered Talik and threatened the Sultanate’s peace.

The Sultan demands Datu Ali’s withdrawal but bigger conflict between Talik and Buayan has started after this event. It then leads into an irreconcilable situation wherein the contending sides decided to solve the matter by war to protect their honor, restore their pride, and assert their power.
